        Hi all,

It’s been a very, very long time since I’ve logged onto this website. I stayed away for a while since Alfie crossed the rainbow bridge, but recently I’ve been thinking I am ready to adopt a new bun! My question is about the supplies… Alfie was a very spoiled bun and I still have a lot of things that belonged to him that I would like to use for my new potential bunny – think along the lines of the IKEA doll bed, NIC grids, a few miscellaneous toys, litter boxes, etc, would that be okay? I’d clean the stuff as thoroughly as I could, especially litter boxes and such but I’m wondering if there’ll be a lingering scent or something that my new bun would not be a fan of?

I think that would be fine! When you bring a new rabbit home, all of the smells are new and over time the new bun will adjust. I would expect potentially more territorial behaviors on items that were Alfie’s (like chinning) but I can’t think of any lasting issues after the new bunny gets settled.

I’ve reused lots of rabbit supplies in the past!! Honestly my buns never seemed to care at all. As tannr said before, I think the bun may just be curious and maybe show signs of some territorial behavior, but I assume that would fade away very fast as it transitions and figures out its new home!!! So in my opinion I would say go for it, buying all new supplies would be quite expensive and not necessary. But it’s obviously all up to you! You could just try it and see how it goes, and if needed buy new. Good luck! And be sure to keep us updated if you adopt a new rabbit!!

I have also reused a lot of rabbit supplies over the years, including litter boxes, which were thoroughly cleaned, of course. None of my new rabbits ever hesitated to use the items that my previous rabbits had used.
