        Hi all,

My two girls are going to be spayed in 3 weeks. One of the treatments my vet offers is Cold Laser Therapy postop to assist in blood flow for healing, pain management etc. I’ve found a lot of info for CLT with arthritis, but not for postop. I’m wondering if anyone has a Bun who’d received this, or any info on whether or not it’s useful. It’s only $25 so not a huge deal if it does nothing, I am just worried that it may be uncomfortable for them. I admit it, I am a super nervous Bun mom. They are going for preop appt and blood work tomorrow and I am so worried. In fact I am having my 3rd surgery for an unstable neck fracture soon, and am substantially more worried about the Buns’ procedure than my own. ?

Anyways, thanks very much in advance,
        Traci

I asked my mum because she uses cold laser a lot – although for human patients. (She’s a physiotherapist.) Cold laser does aid wound healing. It’s difficult to say how rabbits perceive cold laser though – on a human, it feels nothing at all (I’ve had cold laser for muscle pain many times). My dog gets cold laser for osteoarthritis, she doesn’t react like it’s painful or unpleasant.

One thing to keep in mind is that dark animals tolerate less intense laser than light animals. But animal lasers have a special setting for that (at least my dog’s physiotherapist’s laser has that).

How old are your buns? Mine just had her first birthday & they said she was too young to need blood work.
I am so glad I took my vacation for the same times as I had to take her her water bowl a few times the 3rd & forth day after surgery.
Also glad I read a rabbit page that told me to have her eat as soon as possible, even if just fresh greens or treats. She ate parsley & kale, then went for her hay & today finally a few pellets, but mostly hay & greens. I cut back on the treats (raisins & oats) yesterday & sprinkled sunflower seeds in her hay to encourage her to eat more hay. Cutting out all treats tomorrow outside of a few black oil sunflower seeds in her hay.
Not saying what I did was the best, but it did get her to eating better sooner.
Good luck with the girls & your own surgery!

Oh, sorry, don’t know anything about the cold laser.
