Ah the joy of bonding. So I mention in a post a few days ago that my bunnies are doing great during prebonding, and I was thinking of starting bonding them today. Last night they were flopped again againsts the gate between them like usual and still doing great. I woke up this morning and they were honking at each other through the gate. The gate gives them 6 inches away from each other, so there is no way they could have got to each other. They seem very ticked off at each other for no reason. Yesterday I was out all day long, and they schedule was off. They usually have a rountine but the whole rountine got messed up. Could that have made them to act like this?

Was it definitely honking and not grunting? I’ve never known honking to be a sign of displeasure towards one another. I think honking is part of the mating ritual?

The sound sounded like a car horn to me. That is why I called it honking. I guess it could be grunting, but it sounded more like a car horn. They were also scratching at the gate bars. I have been very stressed out lately by things in my life, could it be possible they picked up on that? I’m just confused because it’s been a month, almost two of pre bonding, and they have been flopped against the gate between them, (she actually moved her bed just so she could be closer to the gate) they also do everything together, such as eating, drinking, grooming, and more. They are both fixed and it has been over two months. They were fine at 6am this morning, but just an hour ago they started doing that. It seems like they are back to normal now tho. So I’m overall confused.

I’m super new to bonding – so I’ll refer to Sarah above on this one.

BUT I wanted to post and say that any bunny I’ve ever had has been very sensitive to my moods / stress.
My first bunny would actual get a bit of stasis when I was stressed.
