I just adopted my first rabbit, Apollo. He is a siamese colored lionhead. We also adopted a lip named Atlas. He is also a baby, only abou 8 weeks old, as a companion for Apollo. We adopted Atlas knowing that he has splayed leg in the back hind legs. The people we got him from said he might “grow into his legs” and gave some additional information about caring for a rabbit with this condition. That being said, I was wondering what I can do as his owner to help with his condition? He gets a lot of built up matting and poo pellets stuck underneath him because he can’t hope around like he should. I know rabbits generally groom themselves like cats, but is there something I can do to help? Sometimes I will take. wet wipe and try to get some of it out, but it’s not as clean as I would like it to be. Also, after some ‘google’ research, I saw that there was a DIY away to help with splayed legs that was written by a licensed vet that could help them build some joint mass back up to hopefully eliminate splay leg all together. I’m not sure if this is the best route? Any and all information would be much appreciated! Thanks!
