Hello!
I am currently bonding my two rabbits peanut and biscuit. Peanut has lived with me for years and biscuit (age unknown) for only a while. They are getting along surprisingly well- with the only hiccup being a bit of humping here and there, although they don’t seem to mind it all too much and I am always there to intervene when necessary.
I have never noticed this behaviour when peanut was bonded with her previous bonded rabbit….but biscuit is absolutely obsessed with her? During their bonding times, peanut is pretty chill and wanders around to do her own thing whereas biscuit will always be a couple of steps behind just following. He will NEVER stop following her, not even for a drink or food (only drinks or eats when she does during this time). He rarely approaches her, and they only interact (peanut grooming biscuit, or touching noses) when peanut initiates it. I’ve noticed that when he loses track of her (she turns a few corners around furniture) he absolutely freaks out and runs in full speed trying to find her. He gets really frantic when he can’t find her and I will have to help direct him towards her. Before bonding even initiated, he spent most of his pen and play times just staring intensely. I am not worried, as it seems as they are getting along quite well (they napped side by side for the 1st time today!!) but just curious if your bonded pairs do this and what it means? Does he just adore her? He was also a stray, so I am not sure if he has ever had a bunny friend before
