So now there is a good chance the rabbits will be permanently inside. They would be in my room which has carpet. My dad wants them to be in a hutch. There has to be a tray. They are still deciding if they are putting wood tile in there or not. If they do that the options may be different. Can yall post some links to indoor rabbit hutches? Im having a hard time finding a good hutch. Most of them aren’t large enough for two rabbits. Some wooden hutches say in the reviews that urine soaked into the wood and wouldn’t come out. Im in the U. S. btw

That’s great news that they might be able to be inside permanently! I personally wouldn’t opt for a hutch because, they’re quite costly and as you said they’re not usually big enough. You could opt for a grid enclosure instead which would be much cheaper and you can really optimise the space you have available because you can adjust the shape of the cage accordingly.

If you’re really set on using wood, it would probably be cheaper for your parents to make a hutch rather than buying one. Make sure you use safe woods though of course. If you opted for this option, I wouldn’t put wood as the base because of the urine issue. I’d also probably add ‘splash guards’ against the wood that would be where the litter trays are placed.

Cocoa! This is great news! I’m glad your parents have decided to let them live inside! I agree with Sarah that a hutch might not be the best option— as they are usually the most expensive and least spacious and harder to clean. Have you ever thought of an exercise pen? like the kind for dogs. I house my boys in one and I think this option could work for you. Depending of course on what your parents are up to. I think that many members here have gone to a hardware store like lowe’s or home depot and they will cut sheets of linoleum for you. I was thinking since it is carpet, you could have that down over it and simply have the x pen on top. That way it would also be much easier to clean and the carpet would be protected. You could of course always add some fleece or hay mats.
I know some people say that exercise pens slide around on the flooring, but I personally have never had that problem. I’m sure it is possible if the bunnies move up against it enough? Like i said i’m not sure if this is a possible option for you, but If it is and you have some more questions I would be happy to answer as best i can. We have one that is only 29 inches in height but we pin an old lightweight bedsheet over it when we’re not home using binder clips. I hope some of this info might help you! Keep us updated!

We actually found a cute pink and white two story hutch that is big enough. I found a spot in my room for it and it arrives November 1
