Hello, sorry if this is such an odd question. I currently have a 5 month old rabbit and his poo has always been a medium brown color, (normal color). I recently got another rabbit and she had light brown poo since the start. I have had her for three weeks now, and this morning her poo was still the same color but when I got back home from work, it was the same color as my other bunny poo. They are not bonded yet so they live in separate cages, I did notice though, that she has finally chewed on her willow sticks. She chewed on at least three sticks.

So my question is, does willow stick make poo darker? Her diet hasn’t changed at all, and the poo is still in a normal color range and normal
        Size.

Maybe, but im not sure that it would go through the GI tract that fast. Just as eating a bunch of beets (human) might turn your poo red, the willow might turn bunny poo brown/darker. I dont know why it would change from light to dark so fast though, which is odd.

That is kinda what I thought. Cause I know with humans certain foods can affect the color of ours. It’s still normal color, so I’m not worried, but I’ll keep an eye out on it. Like I said it just went from light to medium brown, so it wasn’t a major color change. Thank you for replying so fast!

Actually, a bunny’s GI is much faster than you’d think. Nothing like ours, and certainly a quicker turnaround from one end in to the other end out. Willow, like other trees, contains tannins in the bark and leaves. Which can make poos darker. Not saying that IS why they’re darker, but am saying it could very well be
