Waffles was running around my room and when he came up to me there was a black shiny spider at his feet and I killed it. I don’t know if it bit him and I don’t want to take him to the vet unless I know for sure he was bitten, my vet is expensive. Does anyone know any signs if a rabbit was bitten by a spider? I don’t know what spider it was but I’m pretty sure it was a harmless house spider. We don’t have black widows or anything that dangerous. If he was bitten by the spider would he have screamed or something? I just want to know if he was bitten or not.

Usually a posionous spider bite would become obvious after a short while i.e some swelling or redness or more obvious signs of broken skin ect. He wouldn’t have necessarily screamed as they aren’t always painful. I think overall it could be difficult to tell but I would say your best bet is to try get your bun to sit on your lap or somewhere comfortable and thoroughly check his skin for any signs of a bite such as a lump or redness or he may even flinch if you touch a sore area.

I can’t guarantee this will tell you if he was bitten but it’s likely there would be signs on the skin if the spider was harmful.

Hope that helps a little! And don’t be shy to ring your vet just to enquire about other possible symptoms in rabbits.

          Hope he’s okay!
