I’ve been thinking about getting another pet next year and I was thinking I’d love a pet I could cuddle with and take places with me sometimes without it being completely scared. So I figured I’d try asking on a forum. I know not all bunnies would be okay going on trips to the petstore or on “walks” but I was hoping it’s possible. I’ve always wanted a ferret but I know they’re alot to deal with energy wise and vet bill wise and was thinking maybe a bunny would be better?

Generally, if you want a cuddly pet, a rabbit is not recommended. While there are cuddly rabbits, it’s not the majority and many times it takes months to years of trust-building to reach that point. Additionally, as a prey species, most rabbits will be terrified of going in public.

I am not experienced with ferrets at all unfortunately.

Rabbits are a lot to deal with energy wise and vet bill wise too so don’t get a bunny if you don’t want/can’t deal with that. Also they’re not cuddly animals, would most likely be terrified being outside in public and most need a bun-panion as they are social.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the others, it doesn’t sound like a bunny would be a good fit – I have two and both of them hate being picked up. Some are more cuddly than others, but I can’t imagine a lot of bunnies would enjoy being carried around the house, let alone taken on errands!

Also, I know next to nothing about ferrets but I can tell you that bunnies are also considered “exotics,” which means their vet bills can get really expensive!

Have you considered getting a little dog? Small dogs are a lot less work than big ones, and I see people out in public all the time carrying tiny dogs in their arms or even in their bags!
