It’s been a while since I’ve posted about Wick, which is a good thing honestly, haha.

Some of you know Wick requires a dental once per month…. Used to anyways!

It’s now two months “overdue” and there are no signs of dental irritation, which has made me mentally and financially happier! I’d like to think Wick recognizes he hasn’t been to the vet in a while either as well.

What has changed? Surprise surprise, hay consumption! We’ve moved to a new place where I could create a large hutch for Wick which has increased his hay sources from 4 places to a whopping 8! 4 litterboxes and 4 fabric hay feeders hanging in his hutch. Rather than lounging most of the day, he spends more time eating hay idly which, I suspect, has caused this wonderful anomaly. In context, Wick would usually wake up, beg for food, then sleep. Now he wakes up and eats at each hay feeder on the way down to the ground floor of his hutch and after meals, he’ll visit each hay spot for a nibble. It’s a great increase that came simply from more hay places, rather than changing type and brand of hay. Wick wasn’t bad at eating hay, but now he’s simply better than how he was.

Hay is essential for rabbit teeth maintenance! Not only changing type and brand may affect consumption, but number of sources and where they are can make a drastic change as well.
