I have a lionhead bunny and she is shedding. She is never aggressive excepting the times when she sees a brush or a comb. Everytime I try to groom her she is bitting the comb/brush and try to run away. I tried to give her treats or her favorite veggies but she forgets about them when she sees the comb/brush. She is shedding really bad, everything in the house is covered in her hair. And I think it isn’t good for her to stay with all that extra hair on her but I’m scared that if I force her to let me groom her she would start to be scared of me or she would try to jump and get hurt. What should I do?

I have three angor a rabbits and I sometimes run into this problem. They all get their anger at being groomed out by throwing around the brush. What I do is watch a tv show with them in the couch. I’ll pet them until they calm down and then groom them. Your bunny may try to run away, but keep trying. and don’t worry, none of my babies are scared of me even though I come after them with a brush, lol. It may also be the type of brush you have. Are you using a comb or wire brush, or something else?

A lint roller and then plucking the rest with your hands is a really safe and gentle method of doing it. It’s about the only way either of my boys will let me groom them

Most often I’m using a comb, it takes out more hair in the little time I have before she starts to bite it. I never tried to use a roller, thanks for the Idea ?

I always end up putting my bun on a towel on a table when I have to brush her. There is just no other way she would tolerate it. She often will toss the brush around and dig at the towel but I give her lots of breaks to get all that anger out. She also knows that as soon as she is on the floor there is a treat involved so she doesn’t feel the need to run away from me right after. Good luck with figuring out what works for the two of you!

I use the mitt/glove brush for our super shedding Lionhead. It works well, it’s just like I’m petting him.
