I noticed Moonpaw scratching so I checked him out.  I thoroughly inspected him and found two fleas, which I got off and killed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more.  He doesn’t have a mass infestation because he’s white and they were pretty visible, and there wasn’t much flea poop either, but he has been bothered enough that he’d scratched up the back of his neck a lot.  He’s only about 3 months old and all the recommendations I was seeing online were for fully grown bunnies.  How do you treat fleas in bunnies?  I don’t want to do anything to him that might make him sick.  Any advice?

My boys have had mites before. The same treatment would be a dose of Revolution for kittens. Depending on where you are you may need to see a vet to have it administered.

One thing to look out for is flea induced dermatitus. I think it’s caused by a reaction to flea saliva (Ew?) which makes them itchy and flaky. I know it effects my cats that way.

Curiously, despite many many combings with a flea comb, I only ever found one flea on Dawn. Just the once and never again.

Sorry to ask a newbie question. Can I use the same flea collar that I use to my cat to fight the flea on a rabbit? Since the flea is just the same species. But maybe I guess the chemical that is produced by the collar will not tolerate to the bunny.

Collars are not recommended because a bunny isn’t used to having something around their necks like dogs and cats. Most bunnies would try to get it off, and could potentially hurt themselves while doing so. Moreover the chemical dosage in flea collars is as you said, usually too high for a bunny.

A commonly found flea treatment for dogs and cats is Frontline, but this can cause adverse reactions in bunnies and sometimes even kill them. Any products with fipronil as a main ingredient should not be used on a bunny.
