We adopted our bun Podge in February and she was fully litter trained when we got her.

Over the last couple of months her litter habits have moved from just sometimes peeing in her cage outside of her litter box to peeing all around the house.

She was spayed two weeks ago and we thought this would really help with her litter habits. Turns out no, they’re even worse!

She LOVES cuddles, loves to be on your lap and on the sofa next to you, or getting stroked at bed time but ever since she got spayed she’s started peeing on visitors when they come round, pees on all of the rugs/sofa, pees on anything new we bring into the house and on our bed every time she’s allowed up there – which is so frustrating!!!

She has two litter boxes – one downstairs in the living room and one upstairs in our bedroom in her cage. She still uses them for pees/poops very regularly but it seems to be a hobby of hers to pee on everything at the moment!

I’m not sure what to do, a lot of the litter training videos/advice I have seen suggest to pick her up when you see her going to pee and put her in the litter box. We’re still trying to get her used to getting picked up because she hates it and will run away as soon as you go to pick her up – I’m sure she has a sense for it!

        Thanks in advance!

Girls can have hormonal spikes for a few months, which will make the litter training get worse before it’s better. If she doesn’t enjoy being picked up, don’t stress her out by doing so. You can guide her to a box, and you can put poops in their as well as paper towels with the pee on them. Eventually her hormones will level out and she will start using it again.
