So a few days ago my rabbit got spayed, she’s doing really well and started eating normally pretty much instantly but now my only problem is she wants to eat absolutely everything and anything!! She used to chew on things occasionally but now if i put something down she’ll almost sprint to it to start chewing on it! all the spay stories i’ve read on here talk about how their bunny won’t eat and i seem to be having the opposite problem. She gets enough food, she always has unlimited hay, gets a bowl of greens in the morning and night and a small amount of pellets in the middle of the day. whats going on with my bunny!!! Not to mention she seemed to bounce back from being spayed incredibly quickly and is doing binkies and zoomies already and theres just no way i can get her to stop. To put it lightly shes gone absolutely nuts  has anyone else had this??

Some bunnies get destructive when they’re in pain and will start to chew excessively. Was she given pain meds?

It could also just be a post-hormonal spike (commonly seen in recently fixed bunnies), which normally takes weeks to die down.

It’s good if she’s eating lots of hay and drinking water Lots of people limit the bunny’s space after a spay or neuter so she they don’t accidentally tear open the surgery site and risk getting it infected. You might want to watch out for that and confine her to a pen until the site heals up more.

Due to this thread about eating, I guess I just to want to ask a silly question here. Do rabbit randomly eat any grass when it’s not being monitored? I mean for an example I put down the rabbit somewhere on the ground, then will the rabbit eat the grass nearby? or the rabbit itself can be trained to only eat what is being served

Hi joeholland! A bunny will eat the grass nearby if you put the rabbit down on the ground – if the rabbit feels safe enough to eat. If the rabbit is nervous, it wont eat. If the rabbit is full, it might not eat. You can’t count on a domesticated rabbit to know what plants to avoid, so a rabbit shouldn’t be among toxic plants. If there’s lots of food the rabbit will primarily eat grass and dandelions etc, but if food is scarce, a bun might eat anything green. And then there are clueless individuals that will eat poisonous plants straight up, just like some horses can do. It’s not quite known why.

This is a good question. You can start a new thread for this topic if you like. You start a new topic by clicking the Add Topic button at the upper left in the sub-forum that best fits the question (or in Q& A if you’re not sure where to put it).
