I just brought home the sweetest girl about a week ago. She is not spayed, and I haven’t decided whether I will or not. If some of her current behavior continues, I think I will end up doing it. She definitely enjoys running around the house and will let me pet her occasionally–she will close her eyes and wait for me to continue, but once she starts to get up on her own she will start nipping at my hands and the rest of my body when I lay on the floor with her. Immediately after this she starts pooping kind of all around me(and her poops smell very strong like onions/a skunk) and won’t let me near her for a few minutes. She is litter trained, and doesn’t usually poop unless this type of situation occurs. She still binkys around before and after I pet her, so I assume she’s happy. I don’t know if she is being aggressive or not with her nipping.
She is also VERY territorial when it comes to her cage. She has bit me and broken the skin twice now just from me reaching in carefully to fill her water/hay up. I know she doesn’t like to be picked up much, so I always let her come to me. She has never bit outside the cage aside from the nipping and I have screeched every time she nips but they still continue. I’m not sure if this is just a teenager stage but the breeder said this wasn’t typical of her behavior, although she wasn’t handled much there.
Just looking to see if she is unhappy or being territorial and how to kind of sway this behavior aside from what I’ve been doing.
