        Hello-

I adopted a senior girl named Lily, she looks like a dwarf hotot mix (she’s the color of one but much larger than one) anyways I got her from a girl who was moving and couldn’t take her with her. I felt terrible because the girl was heart broken. I have 2 other rabbits and I feed them Sherwood Forest pellets and unlimited amounts of Timothy hay and some veggies. Lily refuses to eat the pellets. She didn’t come with any of her old food and we texted her previous owner and I guess she used to eat hamster food, she liked all the little tib bits in it. We scheduled a physical at our rabbit savvy vet but in the mean time what would you all suggest? I’ve tried hand feeding her the pellets and she ate one and spit the others out. Should I go to our local pet store and pick up some commercial diet that she might like? I know Sherwood Forest pellets don’t have all the sugary molasses in it that some commercial diet does have so maybe that’s it. She is eating a ton of hay but I’m worried about her getting sick or losing weight. Any suggestions all?

          Hi!
Bunnies actually don’t really need pellets, but because of her age it helps keep weight on them as they age.

I don’t recommend this, but you can go to your nearest pet store and buy the bad pellets with those treats in it, and because she is a bunny, you have to slowly introduce her to new food so you will need to slowly add the new pellets and take the old away over a course of a couple of weeks so she will then gravitate to the newer pellets( since she’s older she may need the alfalfa based ones as Timothy is for younger buns- but ask your vet first before changing her diet since she is an older bun)

It seems like you live in the UK from the pellets you use, so I don’t know what brands you have there, but you can try getting small bags of different brands of pellets and see if one speaks to her, so you don’t buy huge bags and waste money.

          Keep us updated!
