Hello everyone! This is my bunny Snowy!

She is a dwarf lion head, and she is 11 months old

I’ve been giving her romaine lettuce, but i’m still a little confused on how many vegetables, and what vegetables to give her. I will put it in number form so it is easier to answer.

        1. For romaine lettuce, how many leaves should i be giving her? as shes only about 3-4 pounds. I read it’s measured in cups, but can I measure in leaves instead?

        2. And for cups, do I just cut the vegetables until it reaches the one cup mark or two cup mark?

        3. What other vegetables can I give her everyday then romaine lettuce?

        4. And for the ones that are high in oxalic acids, how often do I give those veggies?

I’m very new to this, so thank you to anyone who is patient and helpful!! I really appreciate it!

          She’s adorable!
Bunnies should get a cup a day per 2 pounds of body weight.

          1. Refer to 3

          2. you don’t need to pack it, enough to go over the rim is good. So she should get a total of 1 1/2 -2 cups a day of veggies

          3. I do a mix of veggies for breakfast and dinner. tiny bits of carrots as they are high in sugar, green leaf lettuce, baby spring mix, celery, Pak Choi, sometimes bell pepper, mint, basil. It keeps eating interesting for them.

4 I don’t know about oxalis acid ones but stay away from kale as it is high in calcium and a great kidney and bladder infectant.

Thank you so much, that was great information, and will definitely come in handy!

I will try mixing those, she’s tried carrots, baby spinach, celery, romaine lettuce, and she’s done well for them all
She’s not a huge fan of fruits though which is good cause I know fruits have tons of sugar!
            Thanks again!

              She’s just lovely looking!

The general guideline is 1 cup per 2lbs BUT veggies aren’t high in calories so essentially you could give more if you wanted so long as it doesn’t intefere with her hay consumption and doesn’t give her sticky poops. Veggies don’t need to be as restricted as pellets

Romaine, green leaf and red leaf lettuces are great staples. You can also give rocket, watercress, spring greens, pak choi, chicory, kale, mint, dill, thyme, basil, rosemary, coriander and carrot tops.

I wouldn’t necessarily worry about which are high in oxalic acids (tho I believe kale is) If you vary things up each week, you shouldn’t have any issues.

You could choose say, romaine as a base and then just give 3 to 4 other greens; rocket, dill and chicory for example. Then when you run out of those, choose another 3 to add to the romaine; kale, watercress and chicory etc. It doesn’t have to be complex

For what it’s worth, in regards to amount of leaves etc I used to give roughly 4 large leaves of romaine and then say, a handful of rocket (it was their fave), one spring green leaf (as they’re large), one handful of coriander, a few chicory leaves, a few sprigs of dill and a few slrigs of thyme. That was for 2 bunnies (both around 2kg each)
