So my rabbit is half free roam, half in a condo for now because she needs to get fixed badly. But she has found a new obsession tipping all the water out of her bowl which is really frustrating because she needs water obviously. It’s one of those auto refillable cat water things and she never had a problem before. Now she knocks the top off (and that starts leaking water all over) and then proceeds to taking the bowl portion of it and tipping it upside down and all the water coming out. I have to keep putting it up and putting more water in it because I don’t want her to get dehydrated but it’s something I have to do like 10 times a day at this point and ahhhh

If anyone has any suggestions, like I was thinking maybe get a really heavy dog water bowl where the sides come out at an angle, maybe it’ll be a lot harder for her to tilt that way. I will not use a water bottle so no point in suggesting that. They don’t let the rabbit get nearly as much water as they need. She drinks probably 1/4 of a gallon of water a day.

I have looked into the kind of bowls that hook to the side of a cage (since she’s in a condo for now) but I’m thinking she’ll just rip it off of there anyway (or are they more secure than that)? I’m not so much worried about the mess as much as I really just want her to have access to water at all times. Last night she tipped it over and I didn’t realize until I woke up this morning and when I gave her water, she drank it like crazy because she didn’t have any all night.

Honestly I would just use a heavy ceramic bowl. She won’t be able to tip/pick one of those up.

You’d be surprised since her food bowl is a heavy ceramic bowl and sometimes she tips that over as well hahaha it takes effort but she somehow still manages ;-; Maybe a lot of this behavior will subside when she gets fixed.

Opt for a LARGE heavy bowl haha. Like a dog sized bowl. It might help. Bunnies can be very determined though! If that doesn’t work, you could always try adding a (clean) heavy weight into the bowl.

                Haha thanks

I swear she’s doing it on purpose. She knows I don’t like it. I’ll say her name and look at her and be like “NO” and she’ll stop for a split second and look at me then go right back to tipping it over haha If I come up to her cage and start opening the door, she works faster to hurry and do it before I can stop her XD

I use the bowls that have the watercan attached to the top and don’t use the can. Since the “bowl” has no lip, they can’t get traction to flip it

My baby used to do that ALL the time! I recently got him a water dispenser which has a lock on the dispensing part so it will only pour water when it is in the bowl. It’s meant for large dogs and I fill it all the way to the top so mars can’t tip it over. We all know rabbits LOVE to play with things they shouldn’t even when they have a billion toys, lol! Btw your rabbit is so adorable!!

I’ll have to look both at the store and online for some good water dispensers or something. I just use a pretty cheap lightweight one right now so that may be my main issue haha and thank you

In my experience, a square crock pot is a lot harder to tip than a round one

So it’s really weird but I think when I run out of bottled water and have to give her tap water, that’s when she tips the water out. Because I got bottled water again and put it in her bowl and she hasn’t tipped it over since… what a princess -.-

It’s entirely possible. When we switched from Fiji bottled to Pur tap filter, Chewie went on water strike for a short while too. Now he’ll drink almost anything.
