  Hi all, Ollie is usually really playful and likes to run and jump around. Today I woke up and let him out of the cage and he wasn’t even excited to leave the cage like he usually is… he’s eating fine but he’s being really weird. He’s not running around like he usually does. He keeps going under the bed and sitting there in the corner. I tried to get him to get out from under the bed with lettuce and it worked, but when he finished the lettuce he just went right back under the bed to that specific spot. He won’t come out! He loves to get on my bed because he knows he’s not supposed to so I even put him on the bed to make him happy and he jumped right off and went back under it!! What could be causing this? Just yesterday he was being his usual self. Why would he be like this today so randomly?

  A few things come to mind.
  
  One item would be Toby is older now and is settling into a regular sleep pattern. Wick stays isolated for about 7-8 hours from the morning so he can sleep. When he’s under the bed, does he seems relaxed or discomforted?
  
  Another option is something is bothering him, whether it’s a physical ailment or depression from a change in environment. Can you think of any changing factors?

  I can’t really think of anything. We did just move into this apartment but he’s been pretty used to it by now. I tried to encourage him again by sitting on the floor and playing with him and he eventually came out to the living room and started zooming and jumping like his usual self. When he was under the bed, he did not seem very relaxed. After a while though, I let him on the bed and played with him and he would still go under the bed after,but would relax. At least now he’s playful again. He is now super relaxed laying down, legs spread out on the lower level of my coffee table as we speak.. probably tired from all the binkies! Should I not worry about it anymore?

  It sounds like he’s doing some normal behaviour also, so less need to worry. Buns are funny like that. Some days they just don’t want to interact. It could have been that he was in sleep mode when you first let him out of the cage, so he went somewhere safe to continue to nap. Or maybe there was a sight/smell/sound he detected last night that spooked him a bit and he was less certain of his surroundings coming out.
  My rabbits are strange with that. There can be a storm and loud thunder and they don’t care, but they’ll spook by something completely random.
  
  Glad to hear he is acting more like himself now.

  As long as he is eating and his litterbox habits are the same, then it could be that something scared him. Does he have access to a window or is he closer to the kitchen? (as some scents while cooking can freak bunnies out). Also, being in a new apartment, even though he is used to it, a new noise could have made him more cautious one day. Something he could hear, but you couldn’t.
  
  This happens to my bunny Aria. She knows every regular sound, scent and sight, but something new — something she spotted in the window, something “icky” she doesn’t like the scent of for dinner, or a vibration or noise she isn’t used to — she will go and hide for a long while in her hidey box. I figured out that the washer, when it was imbalanced, would shake (of course), but the vibration of that ended up freaking her out. She is not even next to the laundry room, It’s a room away, but it’s vibration was strong enough that she could feel something funky going on.
  
  All okay with his diet and litter box habits? If so, just a bunny freak out that we humans couldn’t figure out!

  Has anything happened in Ollie’s life recently? Like a change in the daily routine? I agree withthe others, keep a close eyes on appetite and litterbox habits. Clean out his litterbox and replace with all fresh litter so you can keep track of output. Size, color, constistency and number of fecal poop is often very indicative of a bun’s health.

  Thank you everyone! Yes eating habits are normal and he is pooping and peeing fine! He seems to be back to normal now
