        i currently have 2 buns…. luna and harley. i got luna as a baby from a close friend and we’ve been learning about bunny care ever since! When i decided to get another bunny i went to the animal shelter and got harley. the shelter told me to come back in 6 months to get her spayed because she was too young. I recently went back to the shelter to get harley spayed and i kept luna and harley who have previously been bonded separated . (luna has been fixed).

        the vet at the shelter told me to wait 1 week to house them together again, so i waited a week and put harley back in her and luna’s cage. Luna was very excited to see harley and was going under her around her wound and harley lashed out and they got into a fight. so i decided to but harley back into her smaller cage for the night. the next day i tried again with my dad and they were eating their daily veggies together like normal and after they were done they were smelling eachother and got into another fight. since then i have separated them but they can see and sniff eachother with something in between them. just like how it was when i was bonding them, and i just don’t really know what to do

        Luna= black/white

        Harley= brown/white

          Oh no…. did you have a rabbit savvy vet do the spay? Buns should never be housed for at least a month after any spay or neuter. Hormones are still going and they can still have babies. It takes a month or so for hormones to “run out” then, you start prebonding for a month or so. Then start bond dates. Have you read BUNNY INFO for bonding information?

             I have done a lot of research on spay/neuter and bonding when I was bonding them.  I am still new at this…. I just thought the vet at the shelter knew what she was doing since I’m assuming she does a lot of bunny spays, they are required to spay any animal that comes out of their care.  But when I got my first bunny spayed awhile ago,I went to a bunny Savy vet and they did a great job and gave pain meds and everything and the shelter was “allowed” to distribute medication.  I tried to go to the vet next door but they didn’t take bunnies.

              also, earlier today I was bonding them in the bathtub like how I did when I originally bonded them and they were fine together but when they’re in their cage they start to fight.

                I would keep them separated until she heals completely. Different bunnies react differently to being spayed. The sudden drop in hormones will leave them all over the place when it comes to mood.

                  I do have them separated now. Thank you so much!

                    You should wait until at least a month after the spay before introducing them. During this month, you can swap them between cages every day so they get used to each others scent again.
