        Hey all.

I was asked some good questions by my vets, and have been starting to question if the people taking care of my rabbit have been doing a good job. Overall, she seemed fine but there have been some things that I don’t know if they just missed or is not noticeable altogether.  We all understand that rabbits are good at hiding problems, being a prey animal.  Would any kind of GI or uterine cancer be noticeable from the outside, say affecting a “roundness” of a rabbit’s stomach? I’m just wondering if something like that outside of an exam would be noticeable and brought to someone’s attention.

Another thing we noticed the day I received the terrible news was that she had a little bit of a scalded tail from urine. I haven’t to my knowledge had to deal with this, so I’m not sure if it’s something that one just happens to notice, but it definitely concerns me that she has had this problem and I didn’t know about it.They’ve been nice about everything, but a part of me just wonders how much attention they really give her outside of food, shelter, etc. Any thoughts?

        Respectfully,

        Andrew

Wait, are you not looking after your own rabbit? Also can’t see what the terrible news was from a quick scan of your recent posts… We’ll need a bit more background info.

Is she spayed? I believe that most cases of uterine cancer get picked up when blood is found in the urine – I think by the time it was obviously visible in a rabbits stomach it would be extremely advanced, so it’s unlikely that that would be the first sign.

A urine scalded tail or legs points to kidney problems or a UTI. It should be picked up immediately by anyone looking after the rabbit, as it’s abnormal. It could also be a sign of EC.

I think you either need to bun proof your house(it’s easy) or totally give her to your friends and not worry about her health, as from your other post. You can only worry about her health if she is with you in your house.
