So hubby and I will not be home one day this week and we have 2 bunnies at home. One is 5 pounds and the other is 3 pounds and both are full grown. They spend 6 days a week around 12-14 hours a day having the run of the house. On Sundays they cannot get out of their area until after 12 as we go to chirch. Their cage area is 6 feet by 5 feet or so. I do not let them free roam unless one of us is home. I am wondering if 6×5 is big enough for the 2 bunnies to stay in all day or would they suffer from GI stasis? I am trying to decide if they need someone to come in and check on them or will they be ok in their area for 12-14 hours before we get home? I hate to leave them in there all day but I know we still have to live our lives too. They have 6 and 1/2 days of free roam time but know that any little thing can upset their systems. What should we do? Hire a pet sitter? Ask a friend to come over and just check on them a couple of times during the day? Thanks for any help.

          6′ x 5′ is a good size cage !
If you can let them out in the morning before you leave and then put them in the cage as per normal as you would do when you go to church, and then just don’t come back for a few hours more until the evening, I really don’t think there will be a problem if they have enough food and drink to get them through the whole day and night (just in case!)
It sounds as if they have a lovely life in your home.
You could always get someone to come by in the daytime to check on them of course, but if the bunnies aren’t used to that person or not used to having someone else come in, then that actually could be more different to them then staying in the cage for a long time.

Its your call, but if they are used to being in their cage for half a day, then a full day should be ok too, imho.
