I recently convinced my mom to let me move the bunnies inside, and while they have been inside I have been able to make a really strong bond with both bunnies. But I have also noticed benjamin is a very bipolar bunny, one minute he is hopping around and binkying another he is sitting/hunched over. So I am a little bit confused, is he relaxed or is he in pain? the websites I have read says when a bunny is hunched they are in pain, they dont react to their surrounding, treats ect. But benjamin is always the first in line when he hears a bag crinkle or even anything moving around. below is a picture of what he looks like when he is hunched over.

(Edit: I just realized this is the first time ive shown my buns! beyonce looks tiny in the picture but she is about twice the size of benjamin!)

He is so cute!! That actually looks like a loafing position. Hunching is when the back is curving- like a hunch back or when you have bad gas pain and you are clinching your tummy, or he is pushing his belly to the ground which would indicate pain. My buns loaf all the time, but if you are still concerned, see if it he grinding his teeth loudly or moves a lot and gets back in that position very suddenly- that might indicate he’s painful.

They are very cute It looks like he’s loafed to me! I actually find it quite difficult to tell if a bun is loafed or hunched. It’s not always a clear distinction BUT a lot of bunny behaviours are all about the context so it’s important to assess other aspects of their behaviour. For example, if your rabbit/s are sitting like that, don’t show interest in food and are hesitant to move then chances are they are sitting like that due to some discomfort. If they are happy to move about, are excited for treats and are generally themselves then your bun is just sitting in that position because it’s comfortable It’s not always clear cut with bunnies, so it’s very important to know their normal behaviour so if you suspect something is wrong, you can look at how they’re acting in other ways. Now that your rabbits are in the house, you’ll be able to tell if something is unusual

                  Aww so adorable! The flooof.

He looks pretty contented to me too. A bunny does hunch when they’re in pain, but like Sarah said it normally comes with other signs like loud teeth grinding, or hunching then getting back up repeatedly and seemingly unable to find a comfortable position etc.
