        Hi Everyone,

My bunny, Benny, is a 3-4 year old dwarf. He has the run of the house, is litter trained, and is on a diet of standard pellets and timothy hay. I also give him freeze dried banana chips (from Chewy) as treats. Maybe one or two per day.

Today I noticed a poop (three small piles near each other) that was abnormal for him. Usually his poops are the standard Coco Puffs. So, this was a little alarming.

It was solid, not runny or anything. It looked normal in color. It was just a strange sight.

Does anyone know what could have caused this? Is it cause for immediate concern? Is he getting too many treats?

        Any advice would be appreciated.

        Thank you!

          Do you have a picture?

Based on your description, I’m imagining a poop that’s three tiny poos stuck together. Is that accurate? If so, this is a type of poop that can occur and it has something to do with when the poo forms in the tract. Wick typically has these poops right when he wakes up, so my assumption is it deals with inactivity and low hay consumption prior to/during the inactivity, though that’s my guess. The poos end up colliding near the end and exit together. There’s a podcast on rabbit poop by the house rabbit society that describes it.

If it’s infrequent and as I described, I do not think it’s too concerning, but if you see it occurring more often, I would examine how your rabbit’s health and/or eating behavior has changed.

            I’m sorry, I thought I attached a photo…

            I meant three “piles”.

I can’t see the pictures very clearly (I’m on my phone so can’t enlarge them) but it sort of looks like it might be poops full of fur? Is he moulting?
