So my 1 year old Lionhead LOVES chinning things. He chins just about every part of my body and almost everything I touch. It’s adorable until I try to touch him or cuddle him .. he’s not so “lovey-dovey” as to say. He runs around my bed for hours just chinning things and won’t sit still and when I try to touch him, he runs. He isn’t neutered so I’m not entirely sure if that’s why he acts this way or because he’s still so young or it’s just his personality. I’m not so sure how to get him to just lay with me either.

Honestly it’s because he’s not neutered. Most bunnies also don’t enjoy being cuddled, and some don’t like touching. It could be his personality. It sounds like you honestly just need to forge a better bond. Just sit on the floor and ignore him. Read a book, play a game, watch a movie… just something that doesn’t involve him. Don’t immediately try to pet him. Wait for him to just be okay being around you. By continuing to reach out to pet him when he has shown before he’s not interested, will make him scared of you. so until he’s comfortable, just be present with him in his space on his level. Bunnies get less “touchy feely” the older they get and the more mellowed out they become. Neutering will help the chinning, but the rest is all in forging a bond with him and being patient. Some bunnies take months or years to open up.

I completely agree with A&B, maybe try just lying down together, let him come to you. Be gentle and move slowly, It’ll work if you’re patient and give him time.

Neutering will help with chinning as that is hormonal behavior

I had to be the same with my Asriel for months upon months. He was very shy and independent for the first 6-8 months I had him. But I was pretty persistent on just having floor time the two of us. While Bombur was at the vet one night we let Az roam our bedroom and that really opened him up. Just for him to be able to interact with us while we weren’t even awake. He’s well over a year now, and still pretty independent, but not shy at all. He’s a sucker for a good snoot rub and will lay on my chest for a good 5 minutes. He even begs for attention when I walk by. But it really did take a lot of patience. Hang in there
