In loving memory of Sterling, Bindi, Pippi
White rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit. Nimbus, Apollo, Buttercup, Bear, Finnegan, Olaf, Chewie, Podge, Henry’s tummy.
Peep Peep Peep! (and Yumi’s tummy and tail.)
HOW is it August already?!
Last day of work on Friday, management forgot I handed in my resignation and were shocked when I told them I wasn’t going to be able to work on a project for them… How they got to be in charge is beyond me 😆
Olaf, Podge, Wick’s paw.
Bosses are usually derps – true story. And where DID time go?
Fernando (and parts of Panda so she doesn’t feel left out), Nimbus, Apollo, Olaf, Chewie! (And I said “white rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit!” several times aloud this morning to Fernando, who, as usual, took the whole thing with rather bemused calm.
Speaking of work, my agency (Federal government) is on a major hiring/expansion kick so a new “merit promotion” job posting is supposed to go up today which could mean some big additional bucks for me – I’m currently GS-8 but if this goes through I could eventually have a path up to GS-12.
Nimbus, Buttercup, Fernando
I also can’t believe it’s August already.
Congrats, Joe, that sounds exciting! And Dface, that is unbelievable… They must be in denial!
We’re in the process of buying a flat, which is stressful but hopefully means soon I’ll have a WHOLE BUNNY ROOM and also won’t have to worry about bunnies chewing landlords furniture (just all of my nice new furniture but I can cope with that)

If this pans out, I ought to be able to move into a bigger apartment than my current efficiency that has more room for Panda and Fernando, specifically being able to set up their X-pen permanently so they can run in and out of their condo around the clock instead of just overnight.
S&L Thats so exciting! Stressful but still exciting
Joe-Hope it works out for you (And Panda and Fernando)
I love how so many bunny people (myself included) see new places to live as an opportunity to expand the rabbits play areas!
I’ve been talking about moving out with my boyfriend, and I have been adamant we need to find a two bedroom place, “so we can have guests to stay”
LIES its all for the bunnies

It’s just me and hubby, the bunnies live in the lounge room and we still have three bedrooms
We’ve been taking a glance at other rentals. When I say “we”, I mean “I” lol. There’s some uncertainty as to whether we’ll be allowed a 2nd cat which I’ve wanted since the moment we got Jasiri last year. So I’ve been planning ahead (even though there’s probably no need to) and looking at rentals online. Plus I find it fun There’s one place I’ve found that would be ideal, so of course I’ve started placing all the furniture and animal cages and accessories in my head, haha.
Haha I feel like I’d be the same Az, I really would like a 3 room place, so I can have bunnies AND guests (Or additional buns)
So after two years, today has been the first time Yumi hasn’t whinged when having her nails clipped. I normally hate it because she’s so stressed she’s vocalizing her fear, which is very upsetting. But today she actually let me do it-granted she was still grumpy after, but she didn’t kick me in the face so ..progress!
Woohoo! Yay for nail trimming progress. The bunnies are my easiest animals to clip. They kinda just sit there and occasionally pull their paws back. Jasiri is a wiggly, wriggly worm and the claws flail and the teeth come out, lol. Dory is the hardest, we have to go to the bird vet to get hers done.
Weekend!!
The times flying although August is an exciting month, as when I come back home I’m going to start searching for another bun!!
S&L, Bunny rooms are the best! I love scrolling through Pinterest and looking at the different designs and decorations
The bunnies are my easiest animals to clip.
Yeah to be honest Peep wpuld be the easiest animal in the world to nail clip if it wasnt for all that fur- it makes finding the paws let alone his nails, difficult! Yumi hadnt the greatest start in life-and a wire bottom cage seems to have broken her toes and twisted her nails, so I think she’s just a bit precious about her feet. I have found birds to be the hardest to clip too. And from what I hear, your Dory is quiet the strong personality !
IWB- A new bunny 0.o That is exciting !! Good luck
Dface… I just recently saw a YouTube video on a “simple” way to cute long haired buns’ nails… the lady essentially took a small piece of open, thin lace and put her bunny’s foot through the lace so that the nails poked through and the fur was held back! It seemed kind of clever as long as your not in my shoes where I’m sitting there watching, all the while saying to myself…”gosh! As if BunBun wld EVER let me hold onto that ? like that!”
I also rent in a somewhat smallish apartment… we have 2 bedrooms (it’s just me, my son and BunBun) in a subdivided 100 year old house…that equals nice high ceilings, lots of walls, small doorways, hard wood mouldings…small rooms and even smaller closets! It really is a lovely home for us… but fills up quickly if anything new is brought in… Thus came Bun’s crate, which we keep open in the living room. She has run of the living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom…. the bedrooms are gated (sorry girl)…
But I Oooo and Aaaaaah over the bunny rooms I see online and the sun rooms where rabbits can dig and play…. I wld love to have more room for all of us… and hardwood floors (been thinking abt ripping the wall to wall carpet out of this place but know it’s already too hard to heat in the winter) For now…We remain thankful for our home! Be it ever so covered in hay!
Home just wouldn’t feel like home to me without hay now

Home just wouldn’t feel like home to me without hay now
Or plucking random pieces of hay out of one’s food and wondering how it even got in there in the first place.
Today, by the calendar, is adoption day; the day Panda and Fernando joined my family. Their actual homecoming day anniversary is two weeks hence.
Happy adoption day, Panda and Fernando!
Woohoo! Happy “it’s official” day!
Not the very best picture of my pair, but it’s the latest and a good recapitulation of them at 1 year onwards.. Of note, prominent Fernando tootsies and lots of scattered hay.
So tempted to tickle those fuzzy thumpers…
Happy Adoptiversay!!!!!
Bunny fur… Bunny’s hay… even the biggest question of all…. “How’d a bunny ball get in here?!?! She isn’t even allowed in this room!?!? Lol!
?Hay Happens!!!?
I’m late! Congrats to Panda and Fernando!
Wow, August is here. What the heck happened? I just can’t believe it.
Just testing a tech theory here…
Happy adoption day Panda and Fernando!
Trying to keep up my diet, I lost about 8 lbs in the past two weeks. We cheated a couple of times…
Oh Hazel, that’s wonderful! I’ve been trying, but failing miserably. So good for you, being able to (somewhat) stick to it.
Well, I may have learned my lesson. I was cutting the fur on Wooly’s chest because it’s always just a lost cause (I’m not allowed to brush/comb it). When I was finished with that, I decided to do a butt check. There was a piece of poop stuck to Wooly’s butt, so I went to get it off. I got it, but Wooly decided to open up his scent glands in protest and… Good golly! o_O
You’ve been skunk’d!
Jersey – Sadly, it wasn’t the first time. And probably won’t be the last. That seems to be Wooly’s signature move.
I didn’t even know bunnies could do that!! ?
Hi guys How is everybun?
Hello fellow Dubliner
Started my trip back home and expecting to be back maybe next Tuesday?? I’m practically shaking I’m so excited to see Boo
Ah, dia duit mo chara coinín! It’s so nice to see other Irish Bun Mums I haven’t been here is SO LONG, I miss everyone!
Also, Last week was Mellie’s first Gotcha Day, so it really has been a while
Dont expect too much Irish from me, the education system is dreadful at teaching the language and I’m struggling ?
Hiya, TM! *waves*
I’m just trying to figure out where the past two months have gone. lol
Time is just flying by this year Q8!
Especially since I’m so much busier at work now since the role has become more involved, that it seems like time passes even more quickly as a result.
*waves* I was still following you all on Instagram so I half know how everyone has been! PS Q8 the hoser journey was THRILLING
Hey TM!
LBJ: Thanks! I’m pretty happy with it so far, although I wish I hadn’t fallen off the wagon a few times. We’re doing Atkins. It’s really pretty easy to do and stick to, since you don’t have to starve yourself, just have to watch what foods you eat. As long as you stay below 20 net carbs a day, the weight will come off. You could give it a try! And Hoppy Birthday to you!
The hubby and I have recently started playing Fortnite. Does anyone here play? There’s a bunch of stuff I don’t understand.
TM: LOL Yes. Hoser journey is a great name for how poops went down in April.
Az: So true. White rabbit syndrome: busy busy means time runs from us.
Hazel I’m trying Slimming World with my sister (office jobs are a waistbband’s worst enemy). It’s hard! Good on you, that’s a great result!
I have some exciting news! Back in November last year when we got Jasiri (our kitten), some of you may remember that I had gone in wanting my dream cat which was a Somali boy in the tawny colour (and ended up with a blue girl). Since the day we brought her home I’d considered getting a second kitten. The breeder kept us on her waiting list Back in early July she had another litter from the same parents, and there was one tawny boy just for me! After 6 weeks of back and forth and delays with our rental agent, we finally have approval to get our second kitty. So now it’s official. The boy is coming here to live with his older sister and the bunnies, and Dory
I get to meet him at the end of August/early September after their first round of vaccinations. Then he should be home late September/early October just in time for when I take leave from work.
Here’s a pic taken by his breeder when he was 3 weeks old. <3
And a more recent and very adorable pic of him with his sisters, though I don’t know who’s who xD
In other news, the bunnies are good. We went to the vet on Saturday for vaccinations. Luna was well behaved, Apollo less so She said that both have the beginnings of spurs on the premolars, I’m not sure what that’s about as I haven’t changed their diet and their hay is pretty tough. I’m going to try to add more branches and things for more heavy duty chewing. Vine cuttings and some willow sticks etc and see if that helps. Otherwise they’re all healthy apart from Apollo being overweight again, I can’t figure that out either. He’s just tubby, no matter what I do. I originally got him down to an ideal 3kg from 3.5kg when I adopted him. Then he went back up to around 3.2 and hovered there a long time, now he’s up to 3.4kg. I knew he had gained weight but I didn’t realise he’d gotten that fat again It makes me sad but I just can’t figure him out.
ETA: I forgot to mention that the kitty needs a name I’ve got a strong inclination to call him Simba, but I am open to suggestions
Are the buns moving around less for some reason?
Ooooh that kitten is gorgeous
Az he’s absolutely gorgeous! and I think Simba would suit him just nicely It’s interesting you say that about their molars. During one of Bombur’s EC checkups she checked his teeth and said the same thing, but the chubby thing eats probably twice his weight in hay. He’s not much of a chewer or enjoyer of chew toys (unless electronic cords count ) but when he went in for his annual a month ago she said his teeth were perfectly fine. Go figure
Q8 they’re not moving around less so far as I can tell. They get the same amount of run time etc. I think Apollo perhaps just hones in on the seed heads in the hay, and it’s really tough to not include them because there’s so many. Because otherwise Luna has always been the greedy one.
Thanks S&L
Thank you! Hopefully their teeth come right and we don’t end up with any issues there. Could just be a once off that ends up going away. Different bale of hay etc.
Mellie has gained a lot of weight too, and Tony is ever so slightly underweight, I think she steals his food.
Those kittens are GORGEOUS Az! I’m delighted for you.
We discovered that Chewie has gained some weight too! His grandpa swears that he doesn’t sneak him treats during his midnight visits, so I suspect the farm hay I got last month has alfalfa mixed in with the orchard grass. I found a bit mixed in, which I removed along with all the eye-skewering twigs also in there, but clearly I missed a lot too. Ordered and received a 25lb box of SPS second cutting timothy from Amazon. Let the slimming begin!
Azerane: FINALLY! He’s so cute!!! So if I figure out which kitten is yours in the group picture, I get to name him, right? I’m pretty sure that’s the rules… I think he’s the one on the far right (our right, the kittens’ left), keeping it cool in the back. Hiya, Tod!
Thanks Tony’s Mum, I’m excited too
Q8, I bet he does. Hubby sneaks Dory more almonds than he’s meant to Or at least he thinks he sneaks them, lol. I’ll have to get Apollo onto a fitness regime. Jerseygirl suggested I weigh him with my home scales, since that’s what I usually weigh them with.
Hazel, haha. It was only a matter of time. Breeder doesn’t know which one he is in the pic, I was thinking along the same lines, either the one on the far right, or the far left. The one second in from the right looks really cheeky I had been thinking fox names, Tod is one, then there’s all the foxes from animals of Farthing Wood but I couldn’t really get their names to fit. And an assortment of other fictional foxes. I could just call him Fox too Otherwise Simba still fits xD
More kitten spam, sorry, not sorry Pics from today, he’s right around 8 weeks.
I need to re-iterate that these aren’t my photos, they’re taken by the breeder. The more I look at the new pics taken today, and compare to that previous group shot, the more I think you might be correct that he’s the kitten on the right hand side. Comparing a couple of facial markings and whisker spots, though tricky with young kittens and in different light.
That pose!
?Oh I just can’t wait to be Kiiiiing…?
He’s gorgeous congrats
Just watched the Lion King the other day… (definitely didn’t cry)
Loving the little tufts on his ears!
Thanks guys! Lion King is my all time favourite movie. And I definitely don’t cry every time I watch it either
Jenny, Mini and Snickers had theirannual jabs and check ups this morning. They were delayed due to every bun going on a 9 day course of Panacur just in case Podge had EC not a stroke, even tho we are certain now that wasn’t the case, simply because he has recovered way too well and too fast for it to be EC.
Every buns’ teeth were lovely, and Mini charmed the vet with how friendly he was, but the vet did find a tiny lump under Mini’s right eye.
Chances are its just a fatty lump and no cause for concern, but we have been told to keep an eye on it, in case it turns into an absess
Aww… good, brave buns!
Fingers crossed that Mini is just sporting a wee fat deposit for winter.
Love and nose boops to the whole fluffle! xx
Good to have such well behaved buns. I too hope Mini’s lump is just a fatty thing of no concern
I made a huge mistake today. I watched Milo and Otis. Some back story, it was my favourite movie when I was 4/5 years old and I would watch it frequently. It used to make me cry back then. It’s probably been 20 years since I saw Milo and Otis. Today I had a tune stuck in my head and I was trying to work out where I knew it from, when the movie suddenly popped into my head. So I hopped onto Spotify to check for the song and sure enough, there it was. Listening to the song I thought maybe I should just watch the movie, even though I knew it was a mistake to do so. I ended up watching the movie, bawled my eyes out and was an emotional wreck afterwards. Aside from the probable animal cruelty, something about it and the memories of the songs and just the thought of a cat losing his home just destroyed me today. I was not prepared for that at all, lol. I made hubby promise to never let me watch it again, haha.
Aside from that, it’s Friday!!! The weekend is ahead. Buns need a new bale of hay so I’ll be heading out to pick that up tomorrow. The house is an absolute mess so I’ll try to get motivated on the weekend to do some cleaning. Wish me luck
My hay provider has just been taken over, and the new owner only stocks farmers bales from local farms, instead of the big 10 kg sealed bags of meadow hay.
The plus sides are that the hay is way cheaper, £6 per 20-25 kg bale, instead of £6.75 for 10 kg, and its recently cut and really nice and fresh, with lots of slightly green, long strands, some with seed heads which the buns soon gave the paws up to. Fresh and local and cheap and tasty is all good.
The down side is, its seasonal, so what he has in stock now is all he’ll have til next June, and he said he’s already sold over half his stock, so I’ve had to buy enough to be sure we don’t run out in the next 9-10 months!
Just as well I’ve a garage and no car
£30 and 5 bales delivered and piled high Its a good thing none of my buns are fussy eaters
The first bale is virtually dust free, hopefully they’ll all be as nice.
That’s a shame that you have to stock up on hay so far in advance. I can only imagine the mess 5 bales of hay would make, I make enough mess with one, lol. Have you got them off the ground? If not the bottom bales could get a little damp or just encourage insect into them. Rainsing them off the ground with a couple planks of wood or similar may help. Unless your garage is quite well sealed and more of an internal garage than an external one, if that makes sense.
Az! You noob… xx
GJ: That’s a LOT of hay! Lucky buns. We, too, love fresh meadow hay – that scent! – but it’s hard to find the Belgian one we like here in North-Am. We made it halfway through our half bale (our first go at local farm-fresh hay) before I realized that not only was it a third full of eye-threatening twigs I was forced to pick out daily (Chewie likes to burrow), but it must also have had alfalfa mixed in (even though the farmer swore it was only orchard grass) and Chewie was well on his way to becoming a butterball. I thought for sure his grandad was sneaking him treats in the middle of the night, but grandma vouched that he wasn’t, so… LOL So we’re back to good quality boxed hay from Amazon.

its fitted out with the old living room carpet and settee, making a den for my teen age son and his mates to hang out in, its dry except in really torential rain, but yes might be worth seeing if we can find some way of lifting them off the ground, just in case?

Fair call
You guys! It’s almost fall John and I have our unofficial fall start date as September 1st. I’ll be that weirdo at the orchard tomorrow picking apples in a flannel shirt and moccasins sipping on my cider and eating my cider donuts. Call me a little fall obsessed xD John and I got married the day before Halloween so we take this season seriously. haha
Everyone knows fall is THE best.
What better excuse than to snuggle up with your bun, a good book and a cup of tea? ^_^
This is my favorite season too! And I met my love on September first, so I’m extra happy around this time of year!
Having said that we went on a date last night and I think I got food poisoning so I’m not super happy right now ?
That’s such a bummer after a fun evening I hope you’ll feel better soon!
Speaking of dates, we have an autumn relationship as well: our first date anniversary is on October 17th ^_^
It’s time for me to start making my pumpkin pie cheese cakes! ???????
