        Hi all,

I apologize for the number of my recent posts on the forum. I am having an issue with one of the buns now. Chewie has been digging and chewing the fleece in his pen. He isn’t ingesting it, but I’m afraid he may start to. They are housed on carpet with rubber foam mats and then a fleece liner on top currently. We are moving into an apartment soon that will have all carpeting except the bathrooms and the kitchen. We can’t house them in the bathrooms or kitchen. He will dig up carpet now as well, however not often. I haven’t seen him ingest any, but don’t want to take the risk. Does anyone have any creative flooring options for them that are inexpensive and bun safe? I can’t scrounge together the money right now to make a wooden bottom for their pen, but right now that is the only thing that comes to mind to put them on.

I’m just concerned he will start ingesting fleece or carpet. He has plenty of other things to play with including cardboard boxes, toilet paper rolls, apple twigs, stacking cups, baby links, baby keys, and grass mats. I offer him an alternative whenever I do catch him doing something he shouldn’t be up to. They also get plenty of out of pen time (about 8-12 hours a day). I just don’t want him to ingest something he shouldn’t.

Could you ask around for an off cut of lino? My rabbits currently have carpet as they don’t chew it but the alternative for if (or when!) they do chew the carpet is lino.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of that! Great idea. Thank you!
