Hi everyone! Bear (my bunny) lives in a 28” by 56” cage in my room, but he is let out majority of the day. The problem is, my mom said he can only be out under my supervision. I try to spend as much time as possible in there. I am just really worried about school, because I might barely get four hours in. How can I make sure he gets his excersise, or convince my mom to let him roam around. Our kitten does, so why can’t our bunny? Argh! (I already tried the, “But everyone leaves their bunny alone Moooom!”)

Is your room properly bunny proofed?
If it is there should be no reason he cant be out, although parents can worry (for good reason, I have a wall eating rabbit)
In the room I rented a while back I couldn’t bunny proof so I got an area of the room that I could confine them to-like an x-pen or a gate , this with the additional 4 hours should be more than enough for a bun

My room is bunny proofed, she just worries about the carpet. I put towels were he digs the most.

Honestly it is a justifiable concern, rabbits can really ruin the carpet! Could you maybe get a rug do put down or a large fleece to protect it, that the rabbit cant dig through, and then proof it to your mom that there is no issue with him being out in that area?

Maybe you could try giving him lots of toys, or a designated “digging area” like maybe a place with a whole bunch of blankets. Also, if your rabbit gets neutered or spayed, that may help to eliminate some of that digging and chewing behavior.

My rabbit lives in a large dog kennel with a connecting area he can roam around  on all day. He never goes off the blanket because he hate the way his claws never get any traction on the wood. Maybe you could set up a playpen next to his cage so he doesn’t have to be supervised? And I understand about your Mom. Mine is very much the same, and was hesitant to even let my bunny BE inside!
