I have seen lots of topics around the topic of shedding, but none of them really match up to Benjamin. On some spots on him his fur short and a little coarse feeling while in other places it is long and fluffy how he normally is. I was wondering if this could be the start if fur loss from stress or his condition. the photos below is what his fur looks like. The gray hairs are where the fur is short and coarse. The tan-ish hairs is what is fur normally looks like.

It’s difficult to really see what’s going on with Benjamin, but bunnies have three (usually) layers of fur (some breeds have fewer, like Rexes). Sometimes they shed one layer at a time, and sometimes they don’t all come through at once. The layers be also be different colours! The guide hairs are relatively rough so it sounds like the new grey hairs might be guide hairs that are still coming through (so aren’t as long as expected yet). Perhaps in a few days or a couple of weeks the other layers of fur, which are softer, will start to appear.

What is his skin like underneath? Is there any dry skin, or red patches? Are you able to thoroughly check him for fleas or mites?

Is this in the back near his tail? Looks like molting to me.

His skin seems pretty healthy, no red spots or dry patches. And there is no fleas are mites because I check him every other day bc of his wetness
