Hi, I’m not sure if I’m doing this right sorry if not! My bunny is 5.5 months old and we’re first-time rabbit owners so sorry seems a little obvious. Anyway, earlier today I noticed my bunny leaving very small kinda wet (but not diarrhea) droppings, When I looked online it said this could be a kind of GI problem/the start of GI stasis which is really scary obviously, She seems to be eating the same as normal, lots of hay and she ate her veggies (rocket, basil, coriander and some orange bell pepper) fine this morning. Shes also running around/binkying the same as normal and seems as hyper as usual, when she lay down, however, I could feel her stomach moving? Almost like there was a lot of gas in there, it did feel as though it’d be quite painful and she let me massage if for a while until she got up. I was thinking that maybe this is because of her diet, she only really started having proper amounts of vegetables a few weeks ago when I got back from uni so I’m wondering if maybe we moved to fast with introducing them to her? Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on if this sounds like a GI problem and how to ease her discomfort, as well as this is it recommended we take her to the vet today or observe her as she seems normal otherwise and is still eating. Sorry for such a long post and thank you in advance!

Massage is good. Running around is great too. You can give a bun baby gas drops (simethicone) on suspicion of gas. Many bun owners, me included, find simethicone gas drops very helpful. It’s not absorbed by the body, it only acts locally in the intestine, then it’s pooped out.

It sounds reasonable that this sticky poop/possible gas is her tummy reacting to an increase in daily veggies. You can cut back again and try to make her eat more hay, for example by hand-feeding her individual strands. Hay is the best thing for minor tummy upsets like this. If she’s a good hayeater you can cut out all vegs for a few days.
