My bunny, Mochi, is just about 4 months old. I’ve been feeding her oxbow young rabbit pellets.. and I’m getting low on it. I was wondering if I should buy her another bag and seeing that it lasted me a while, so will the next bag. When should a young rabbit be transitioned to adult pellets? She is a New Zealand crosses breed with a Rex. So she will get fairly large. Should I keep feeding her young rabbit pellets? And transition her to adul after she’s need spayed?

The HRS guidelines say that you can start transitioning rabbits to adult pellets at 7 months. Some people may start a little sooner or a little later. Slowly transition the pellets, starting with a mix of 75% alfalfa pellets and 25% timothy pellets. Then mix 50/50 the next week.  The following week the mix will be 25% alfalfa and 75% timothy pellets, then the final week will be all timothy.

I’d buy another bag and feed until at least 6 months, then mix with adult pellets for a gradual transition.
