I adopted a male bunny from a family that couldn’t care for him anymore. They believed him to be a Polish rabbit, but I think he might be a Mini Rex. I am a new bunny owner so I could be wrong, but his fur is very dense and soft and I think it feels like a Rex but its been awhile since I’ve pet a Rex  Also my rabbit is 4 lbs which would be a bit large for a Polish but not unheard of. What do you think? I put pictures in the attachments.

Unfortunately, I only know Netherland dwarves so I cannot help with breed identification!

He does look like a rex with that plushy fur. Is he full grown?

Oh yes, mini rex. What’s his name?

A couple things with rexes and mini rexes: They can be prone to weight gain, and that can lead to sore hocks. They’re already prone too that due to less fur padding then regular fur breeds. Keeping nails short helps avoid sore hocks also. Their nails look more obvious because they don’t have the longer guard hair covering them.

I had a Rex bunny named Isabel with very similar markings. Your rabbit looks so much like she did and is very cute!  It’s wonderful that you took him into your home.

His name is Spot. Very original I know, my four year old was in charge of the naming Thanks everyone for the comments and advice.
