        Hi everyone,

Last night my husband and I found dried blood in our male Flemish/Créme De Argent rabbit. He’s not scratching at his ears and there are no sores in his ears or around them. He’s not balding anywhere so it doesn’t look like ear mites. But there is wax and dried blood in his ears. He’s been acting normal but seems to be having a hard time hearing. Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong and how to treat it?

I have no experience with blood in rabbit ears, but I believe I’ve heard that fleas and mites (in dogs) can leave behind blood because it’s their poop?

If you wipe it away, do you find it returning?

Is it deep down in the ear? If it seems he’s having trouble hearing, he might need go to vet to have his ear canals cleaned out.

My lop has been getting some build up and pus in his ears and the vet thought it might be due to a pseudomona bacteria as that can cause some ulcerations.

With ear mite, fur loss is not typical.  It can look like dark red spots or dirt deep down then spreads up inside of ear. Then develop a crust.
