Hi everyone! Looking for opinions as to how you serve your veggies to your buns… Favourite bowls, plates, etc? I know it is also good to sometimes scatter them to have them perform their natural foraging behaviour.

        Thanks

Thanks for this question – we’ve been talking about exactly this a lot lately, so I will also be curious to see what others say.

We’ve been giving Luna her salad in a super cheap, plastic Tupperware bowl. She loves to throw it around and flip the bowl over. We considered getting her a heavy ceramic bowl so she can’t do this anymore, but she seems to like it so we haven’t made the switch. Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter because she eats every single bit no matter how it is served. We just want her to be happy!

I’ve always given bunnies their veggies in a ceramic crock bowl. Elara grabs most of it right away and takes it out anyways. For pellets, I scatter them around to avoid eating too fast.

My monster buns make mincemeat out of any kind of plate or bowl I put down and I found actually a heavy cement plant pot saucer that i put veggies on. It does not have a lip or raised from the ground, the sides are flush to the ground so they cannot get any purchase with their teeth. Although it does not prevent them taking veggies out to eat, at least the veggies don’t sit on the carpet soaking in…. they cannot budge it !!

                I’ve always used this: https://www.amazon.com/Super-Pet-100079897-Vege-T-Bowl-16-Ounces/dp/B000TZ75PE/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1531695819&sr=8-13&keywords=lettuce+bowl

I’m sure my bunnies don’t care at all, but it makes me happy! Also, it’s heavy enough that’s it’s hard for them to knock over.

I’m late, but wanted to chime in! Lol I feed them on a plate. They usually pick through it and throw it about their pen if their cilantro isn’t right on top. I just don’t like to place it in their pen right now because the weather here is very hot. I usually leave extra water on their veggies for hydration.

At the moment, I use a white crock bowl shaped like a scallop shell. It holds about two cups of greens and Chewie hasn’t attempted to redecorate with it (yet).

I feed Wick veggies on a plate or a small bowl. He doesn’t really flip the dishes at all— he mainly likes to scoot and rotate the dish so he doesn’t need to move to get to the veggies. I wipe his mouth after he’s done eating too, haha. Wick can’t have moisture on the sides of his mouth or else he’ll get ringworm.

I use a rectangular cotton place mat to put veggies on for my 2 bunnies. It gives me room to spread out the greens, so that they can each easily eat at the same time.

I…lay them on the ground. :’) So classy. Less dishes for me!

For pellets I use regular rabbit bowls (but cute ones, one white with lime inside and one white with pink inside).

I put both veggies and pellets on the floor LOL. Kurotta just loves the floor.

My Bun gal hears the fridge open and comes a running. If it’s a large leafy kind of veg like kale, Romain or such, she reaches up, in classic beggin’ bunny fashion and I simply fold the leaf in half, she takes it and takes off with it to finish off in private…. ?

If it is cilantro or smaller herbs, I just put them down for her before she pounces the hand that delivers them!
