        Hi
So I’ve had Bunky for 2 years but I have no idea how old he actually is. He is a black Dutch and ever since I can remember he had white tipped black hairs all over him but recently they have over taken his black coat. Would this mean is a senior bun? He has alwasy been chill and lays around all day but so do my young buns. His new coat under his molt is the same white tipped black hairs. Besides him sleeping all day, he is acting normal. It won’t let me attach a picture

        Thank you!

It’s not unusual for bunny coats to sometimes fluctuate colours as they change.

To me it looks like he is a (Dutch?) agouti, the dark parts of his fur being the agouti. Agouti hairs are banded in lighter and darker color. This makes for excellent camouflage in the wild. Rabbits do change color both with the seasons and with it’s age. The difference can sometimes be dramatic when a bun matures into adulthood.

Thanks Q8 and bam! Yeah i looked up agouti pics and it does look like he is that. I don’t know how old he is and I’ve had him for 2 years so at least 3 or 4 years old. His hair color is consistent throughout his molts unlike my lop so that’s why I thought he was maybe getting older
