        Hi everyone!

I have three bunnies and one is shedding at the moment so there is some loose fur around. I obviously clean up as much as I can but they are still ingesting some fur. I have heard that papaya can help them break down excess fur that is ingested. The only dried papaya I have been able to get locally was from a health food store but it has some ‘Evaporated Cane Syrup’. Would this be harmful to the bunnies? I plan to order some of the Oxbow Papaya Support online but I’m not able to purchase it in any stores here. Would it be safe to give them a little of the dried papaya in the meantime?

        Thanks.

I think you can give them a tiny bit of the dried papaya. Substitute their normal treats for the papaya. I’m not sure it helps with ingested fur, some say it’s a myth but some say it can help -but it will not harm if given in small quantities.

Great. Thank you for your quick reply bam! I’ll give them a little in place of their treat and see how it goes!

All of my buns have loved dried papaya. No idea if it helps with fur ingestion, but they love it. Like bunny candy. I buy the Sunseed brand which is for birds and small animals. A lot of pet stores carry it either in the bird or small animal section.

Thanks LittlePuffyTail. I just gave them all a little piece and they loved it! Nice treat for them and if it helps with fur ingestion that’s a bonus!
