I just got my sweet lop Nova. I bought a bag of Kaytee Timothy hay from the store. After feeding her for a couple days i’m noticing this hay is very brown, dusty, and not very fresh. Today while getting her hay I found a large beetle like bug? grossed me out. I don’t have tons of money to drop on fancy stuff but I need to be feeding Nova a higher quality hay. What brands do you guys love? I just can’t figure out what brand is good!

Not sure where you live, but local rabbit rescues often sell hay! It’s usually the cheapest and freshest option, as they are buying large quantities in bales and reselling it.

Other than that, many people like Oxbow hay as far as pet store brands go. Before I bought from my rescue, I used to buy from Sierra Valley Hay. If you are on the west coast of the US the shipping cost isn’t bad. The quality was excellent, the bunnies loved it!

Thanks! I’m on the east coast but I do know a couple rabbit rescues around my area, I will check them out.  I’ll have to give Oxbow a look as well. Thanks for the help!
