        July 8 2018

i woke up today and my 3-4 year old dutch boy was lying on side, shaking and not wanting to move, breathing really fast, and not eating or drinking. our normal vet was closed since it was the weekend and i had to take him somewhere else. the vet there said he thought it was gi stasis, and gave him 5 mg metoclopramide reglan and fluids (SQ? i dont know what that means but thats what it says on the bill) this isnt the first time hes had gi problems but the other times after getting back from the vet and and a bit of force feeding he was fine by the end of the day. not this time, ive been giving him 1/2-1 tsp of babyfood and 2 tsp of water every hour and massages and hes not getting better. he wont eat on his own and hes still not pooping. now he wont even take the syringe water, hes just letting it pour out of his mouth. our regular vet is still closed tomorrow and the one i saw today will be too, theres no other vets in our area who see bunnies. im going to find a atore that sells critcal care tomorrow but im too scared to even sleep… is there anything i can do?? is there any other way can help him?? im so scared hes going to die and i dont know what to do

My reply at the time. I’m not aware if anyone else had posted.

I’m sorry to hear he is poorly.

How is he acting now? Is he out and about or hiding away? Sitting hunched up? Is he grinding his teeth at all? Do his ears feel colder then usual?
The SQ stands for subcutaneous fluids. This is fluid they give under the skin. You may even see a bit of a lump there before the fluid is absorbed by the body. Hopefully the measures the vet has given will turn things around. Sending {{{vibes}}} for your little one.

Thank youso much, he’s hiding away and this morning when i tried to give him more food and water i noticed him grinding his teeth a little. I checked them last night and they didnt look broken or damaged?

Hes still not eating, drinking, or pooping, he peed once when I brought hik back from the vet.

              Hello sigwr
I’m sorry your posts were some of the ones we lost due to a glitch. Especially at such a time. I hope your rabbit is doing okay. The teeth grinding is concerning. This can be a sign of pain when a rabbit is unwell. I think getting him some pain medication from the vet could help him. How long has it been since he was last at the vet. Some more metaclopramide for getting the gut moving may be needed also.
