Hi everyone, I use Oxbow’s mixed Orchard and Timothy hay but the last two times i brought it there was alot of dead blades, actually some in large brown clumps. Wanted to see if someone could tell me where to buy fresh hay online in the US. Thanks

My bun is very picky when it comes to hay . he will only eat green and good hay if it’s brown and dust short he won’t touch. I literally bounce pet stores and have to check all the bags of hay to find a good bag and some places won’t have good hay.

My BunBun is entirely over picky. For a long time she would only eat Rabbit Hole Hay. Most of the time it is wonderfully green but I began having a lot of difficulty getting decent, not just good, boxes of it and so far I cannot find any store local to me (Hudson Valley NY) that sells it so I can inspect it before buying. I’m certain that it can be purchased online but even I have been trying to push my picky bunny to branch out into other brands due to growing lack of consistent quality. Small Pet Select is online hay provider but even though I have only purchased from them twice, May and December, there was no major difference in quality at all during the time frame. Neither time, did the boxes have any brown at all in them and the hay was not cut short and obliterated into dust. For this reason, I’m trying to completely convert her to their product at this time… I will say that their hay appears to have a little less leaves and more hardy stalks this time as to last time, but that may also just be due to chance or timing.

Hey! I just bought a big bag of the ox-bow timothy hay and I have a lot of dead brown in mine too (they are thinner and more stringy) and my bunnies wont touch it – they just pick out the bits of greener stuff and leave it.

I was considering returning it as its such a waste.

Oh and I am in Canada
