  I was wondering if anyone here has a Bunny with permanent weepy eye? It looks like my Rabbit may have that. Just to summarize, there has been a few things going on lately:
  
  My Rabbit was having some dental issues as i noticed he stopped eating as much as he used too about a month ago, it turned out he needed to get two teeth pulled out, the Vet (very Rabbit savvy) put him on Baytril for 3 weeks, i had a follow up because after the procedure he developed s teary right eye and it would not go away even with the Baytril dosage. My vet thought it best to flush his tear duct, so we did so and she checked him once more and removed one more loose tooth, Since then he’s been slowly getting back to eating more, though still not as much as he used too, but he does not seem in pain and behaves as usual. But his teary eye was not fixed by the tear duct flush, he was fine for a day or so but the weepy eye came back soon.
  
  I emailed my Vet about this, as it came back rather soon, she thinks there might have been permanent damage from his Tooth infection and the tear duct will remain that way forever,. mind you he’s an old 9 year old bunny but i;m a little sad that this might be permanent, not so much in the caring side of things but rather i’d hate to think he’s uncomfortable in any capacity. Has anyone had something like this happen before? and if so what was the care needed? I’m going to be taking him back at the end of the month, as i have noticed that while he’s not spitting out food anymore he is still not back to eating as much as he used too. He was just checked last week but this kind of stuff leaves me paranoid.

  Hmmmm, seeing the title I was going to say prob a dental issue… then reading the post I see that’s exactly what it is!
  
  Is it possible that part of the tooth is still there?
  
  It might be good for the vet to do an x-ray to see if there is anything going on with his molar roots that they can’t see. Especially since you say he’s still not 100% better with his eating. I do think the vet could be right though, molar extractions can be tricky.
  
  I suppose it’s also possible that he has an infection that isn’t treated by Baytril. Dental abscesses usually need penicillin injections, so I wonder if he might need a different antibiotic? Or could have a dental infection that isn’t visible?
  
  Assuming that his teeth are in fact all OK (and it isn’t some underlying problem), then I don’t think the weeping should cause too much discomfort (but I don’t have any personal experience with this). You can wipe his face with a warm soft cloth daily to keep him clean. I’ve seen bunnies with tear duct issues as they get older, and it doesn’t seem to both them too much.

  Hmm, I’m wondering if this post had responses and they were lost in the forum glitch. If that is the case, I’m sorry about that. The thread probably got lost in the shuffle of things, unfortunately.
  
  If his tear duct was damaged, there isn’t much that can be done. It may get better with time, but it may not either. Chronic weeping isn’t the end of the world though. You just have to be careful to keep it clean. How bad is it? Is it a river? Or just some dampness here and there?
