I am a happy and rabbit mom! It’s my first time ever owning a rabbit. Spooky is such a sweet heart! He’s a 8 month old, unuttered, Dutch Rabbit and was given to me from my friend. She got him as a baby from Pets Plus, she couldn’t take care of him anymore and gave him to me. I want him to free roam in my bed room. I just need help litter training him. I fear that since he was used to pooping where ever he wanted in his cage: he’d do it to my room. Also, is apple cider vinegar good as a no chew spray? He also nudges me sometimes and I dont know what it means! I’m so excited and have so many questions. This is a unguided advice forum so all advice of any kind is welcomed.

Welcome to BB Spooky’s Mom! It’s wonderful that you decided to add a rabbit to your life, and it can be very nerve-wracking to have lots of unanswered questions. Owning a rabbit is definitely a big responsibility and there’s lot of learning to be done!

Litter habits can always be taught. How adherent a rabbit will be and how long it can take can depend both on the owner’s training techniques, as well as the rabbit’s own inclination. For example, some rabbits will adopt litter boxes right away. Others, like my Wick, definitely prefers not to go in the litter box, but he does -most- of the time because he understands that’s what needs to happen. Cleaning up accidents, bringing Spooky to the litter box before/after an accident, and doing these consistently can help.

Nudging can be a means of asking for attention (grooming, food) or asking you to get out of the way.

As for ACV, I’m unsure. I do not think so because I actually put ACV (with the mother) in Wick’s water to drink.
