        Hey, everyone.

I need some suggestions for an indoor rabbit cage or run. I was going to make a C&C condo, but now I’m not so sure. I was watching a video on caring for senior rabbits the other day, which has made me uncertain about the cage. I want to build only one rabbit habitat and not to be changing cages constantly, and I want to have a living area where my rabbits can comfortably live even when they’re old and won’t be able to move as well. However, I’m also concerned about a lack of space for a big enough x-pen, which is why I originally wanted to do a C&C condo.

Do you guys have any suggestions as what kind of cage/run I should go for?

I think the C&C grids are a better choice. If it’s a young bunny, you can build a multi-level condo with ramps. Many bunnies would just leap onto the second level without using the ramp, but it’s always good to have ramps just in case.

If it’s an older bun, they will most likely use the ramp since their legs may not be as strong to leap anymore. Otherwise you can always make it single level but with a bigger space. C&C grids are flexible like that.

If you were to compare having more space horizontally (i.e. floor space) vs vertically (i.e. more levels), the former is better since it allows the bunny to have more running space. Imagine them in the wild – wild bunnies have vast fields to run around in. They would definitely be more comfortable doing binkies and zoomies in a larger floor space.

How big is the space you’re working with?

I’m not sure where I wrote down the exact numbers, but it’s somewhere around six feet by four and a half feet? If I did some Tetris-like maneuvering, I could get six feet by seven or eight feet. It’s an oddly-shaped room.
