        So, I was driving to the store when I came past this neighborhood that was INFESTED with domesticated rabbits. Like there was one around every corner, when I was driving by I saw a little rabbit that looked like he was in critical condition. I picked him up and held him in my car and he was INFESTED with fleas, so when I got home to my apartment I gave him a bath. I know it’s bad to give rabbits baths, but I have another bunny at home who I didn’t want fleas, and these fleas we’re basically jumping off of him. His face looks like it may have gotten hit by a car, like it’s kind of crooked and his ear looks like its broken been, it’s permentally Stuck in a bent position. It looks like his ear cartlidge already grew back in that position, so he must hhave gotten hit a while ago.I can’t take him to the vet because I’m a poor college student and I can’t afford the vet bill. He can eat and drink just fine from what I’ve seen.. he’s very skittish around humans because I assume he hasn’t been around them much and acts very skittish when I try and touch him, hell come up to my hand when he smells banana but other than that he keeps away. I have him separated from my other bunny. He looks to be about a few years old maybe. Do you think it’s hopeless for him ever getting used to me? If not, how can I get him used to humans?

          Hi,
          He needs to see a vet ASAP to make sure there are no life threatening issues going on with him that you can’t see and you need medicine to get rid of the flees or he can become anemic which is life threatening. Then you can work on him getting used to you. See if the vet can work out a payment plan or even a discounted cost but most importantly, for his safety he needs to be see.

              Good on you for picking him up Bree. It does sound like he needs medical attention. Is there a local rabbit rescue group that can take him on? You’ve already done a lot to save him, but try not get in above your head. It’s quite possible he will have expensive or ongoing medical issues. It’s good youve kept him well separated from your own rabbit.

              It would be good if a reputable rescue know of the feral population also, if they are not already aware.

              If this isn’t a result of trauma, it’s possible it’s from parasites or bacterial infection. They can cause some neurological disturbances affecting the facial nerves.

              If you feel comfortable posting it, let us know the general area where you are located and we will see what resources you can find for you.

              @charlierae
