I noticed that my boy Bruce was limping a little (his front right paw). It’s not a huge limp and he still sprints around and it doesn’t stop him from being active and playing.

Anyone had anything like this? Is it worth a trip to the vet soon or should I wait and see if maybe it’s soft tissue soreness and it goes away?

As I say, everything else is normal. He’s running around the room as I write this. Also, it would’ve happened whilst he was in his cage, which is a two tier one. He’s just under a year old and desexed.

Bunnies can get sprains just like humans and dogs. I think I’d give it a few days if his symptoms are this mild. If it gets worse, like if he starts walking on three legs and holds the injured one up all the time or if his appetite drops or you see other signs of pain, it’s time to contact a vet of course, but I think it’s safe to leave it over the weekend.

It’d wise to try and limit his jumping a bit, perhaps block him off the second tier of the cage. Try to not let him on furniture (because he could hurt his foot even more when he jumps off them).

You should have a look at the foot so its not a claw break, if it is and the nail hasn’t come off of its own, it could need extraction by a vet. Also look for swollenness around all toes. Be very gentle (obviously!)

A clean claw break is common though, active buns tend to get them all the time, so that’s not cause for alarm.
