Hi everyone! We woke up yesterday and knew something was wrong with pepper because she was just laying down …. anyway when we picked her up her eye looked like it was bleeding and swollen . We took her to the vet and she was diagnosed with a respiratory infection . Today her eye looks so much better however her ears are extremely cold ( usually they are warm) she is hoping around a little and drinking …. the vet said she’s fine as long and she’s Drinking . I’m still worried about her ears being so cold ? Thanks

Ears being cold can be a sign of being in pain and going into shock. Is she eating and pooping?

What did your vet prescribe for her?

You vet doesn’t sound that rabbit savvy if they said she was fine as long as she is drinking.

          Can you take her temperature?

If her temp is low, you can offer her a warm water bottle wrapped in a towel to cuddle up to.

If she hasn’t eaten or pooped in the last 6-8 hours, she needs to be seen by a rabbit savvy vet ASAP.

Her ears feel normal now …. however she doesn’t seem to be using the bathroom as much . The medicine is called SMZ -TMP she was also given eye drops ( which seem to be working ) and another eye medicine which is like a strip they goes inside her eye lid .

We took her to another vet and they recommended putting her to sleep . She was having seizures and in pain . We are heartbroken.
