Is this normal that my 8 week old bunny doesn’t dig? Should I buy toys that will aide in digging. Or maybe she’s more of a chewer? I’ve seen DIY on a dig box with shredded paper, but i feel like my bunny would just sit in it and eat the paper… not knowing that she’s supposed to dig. Is this a bad thing?

I’ve only ever heard of people being concerned about their bunnies’ constant digging rather than the other way round lol!

I’m sure she will eventually catch on. In the wild bunnies often dig to burrow and the earth also helps file their nails down. But domestic bunnies don’t have the same kind of ground texture to dig, so it doesn’t help in keeping their nails short – we’d still have to help them with the trimming.

You could always give her a cardboard box and shredded paper, then observe if she tries to eat it. Not all bunnies are chewers either

Wick didn’t start somewhat digging until he was a bit over 1 year old, so it’s normal. Every rabbit is different. Some rabbits will only dig in certain scenarios. Wick only does when he’s about to settle down, or if he’s frustrated.

I had 2 bunnies that never digged anything ever and 2 that would try and dig their way out of the garden. o.O I’d say be happy fith a bunny that fits in the former category, ha!
