Hi, so this isnt a huge problem but would like some input/advice. My rabbit does live in her shed outside, and if i want to bring her inside i do have to carry her inside or outside. If i am bringing her to my room, she will run up the stairs no problem (we play a game who can get to the top the fastest). But she is absolutely TERRIFIED of going down the stairs and i do have to carry her downstairs aswell. It is very clear that she hates being picked up, i do try to put my jumper over her head to calm her down, but i still get scratches almost daily because she is trying so hard to get on the ground. Does anyone have any tips on what i could do, or other ways to bring her around?

Can you train her to hop into a box or pet carrier to be carried downstairs in?

She’s not going to come round to being picked up and it’s not fair to do something that makes her terrified everyday. Ultimately it’s going to make her stop trusting you, so its worth trying some other methods.

One of my bunnies who hates being picked up has a little strawberry shaped cloth hidey house. He happily hops into it, and is carried around in it. If I put it in front of him, he’ll hop straight in!

I do have a carrier but its very big and clunky and hard to bring everywhere. But ill definitely give the cloth hidey house a go! It sounds great and very portable. Thank you so much!

You might need to entice him in with treats at first, but hopefully he’ll realise it’s a better option

If I May ask, where did you get that strawberry hidey house? Or do you have any idea where I could get one for relatively cheap money?

I was lucky and found one at a yard sale but Amazon has lots of options. I’ve never seen them in any stores.

Yepp, mine came from Amazon and was about £10. You can chuck it in the washing machine too, so its easy to keep clean

There’s also ones in the shape of sharks, where they hop into the shark’s mouth. The options are endless

S&L and Little Puffy Tale – do you find your rabbits eat it?
I dont mind scratching / ripping / destroying LOL but I’m scared they may ingest it.
But I love this idea for moving my bunnies around too.

Mine haven’t even nibbled it actually. Which is weird, as Atlas currently has a chewing mission with the sofa. But if you were worried you could always take it out when they’re not supervised

                            Ya! That’s a good call!
I’ve seen them dig/pull at the carpet and at the towel I put down to sit on in their area – as they haven’t been fixed yet and Ruppert (aka Poopert right now) is pooping everywhere lol) and Penny is chewing the wood supports of the play area I built …. But I haven’t seen them actually EAT any of it. So its worth a shot.
                            Thanks

And “I’m with Boo” – so far what I’ve been doing is using a smaller pet carrier (like I would use to take them to the vet) and throwing a treat in it so that they go in – close the door and off we go. But they are starting to get wise to me LOL

Yes thanks nutmeg, but as I explained earlier I actually do have a carrier, but it’s pretty big as I used to have two rabbits. It’s quite impractical and hard to bring around the house so I’m going to try and get the hidey house
