I’ve tried to clean his feet with warm water or white vinegar but it doesn’t work. I know people say to just leave it and that it will go away with time but I feel like my baby has really dirty feet and bum that just doesn’t wash off. Help me.

I’m sorry to hear your rabbit is having s tough time staying clean! A few things come in mind to figure out the best solution:

          1) Is your rabbit able to clean him/herself, or is there a medical reason why he/she is no longer grooming herself? This can be an obvious disability or a more nuanced one, like depression that leads a rabbit to neglect caring for itself.

          2) What is the litter box set-up and how often do you clean it? A litter screen has helped many rabbit feet, as it helps separate the feet from the soiled litter. See the photo album in my profile to see an example!

          3) How would you describe your rabbits pee and poop, in terms of appearance and texture? Unhealthy droppings, like slushed pee and runny/watery poos are not only more difficult for a rabbit to clean off, but they are signs of poor health that need to be addressed.

          4) Is your rabbit a long-haired breed where sanitary shaving may be needed regularly? Such as a lion head?

With some additional information, hopefully members can give some good solutions!

            Hi!
Unfortunately, the hair is stained and as it grows out, the stain will grow out too. I always notice it on my white buns and it looks so unattractive but theres nothing you can really do about it :/
Also, does he lay in his litter box ontop of the pee and poop? that would cause his feet to get nasty.

Well he is 3 months old and he is an Holland lop. He usually cleans his face ears and back. Once I saw him fall asleep in his litter box that I clean every time he pees and his urine is kind of darkish yellow and I plan to get that checked at the vet sometime next week.

Yes he once slept there. Everytime he stays there for a really long time I move him so he gets the idea but he still lays on his litter box.

Darkish yellow pee sounds pretty normal. To prevent him from getting soiled, you can swap to a grated litter box or like Wick mentioned, make a grate for his existing one.

I’ll try to get grated litter box for him but I’ll still get him checked at the vet to see how he is doing. Thank you guys

Just wanted to second the stained fur statement. My Allen is white and likes to sit down right where he just peed. I have really tried to make his lil stained bum appear cleaner but it only seems to get slightly better when he sheds. The curse of white bunnies I guess. Sorry to not be very helpful.

I got my rabbit from a breeder and I’m guessing she kept them in a small messy cage because her feet were dark yellow. (and she is 100% white lol) and honestly I don’t think it really comes off, hers has worn off over time. Over the course of a couple months. Now they’re almost white like they should be.

What I do for my rabbits litterbox:

A cat litter box with a puppy training pad lined at the bottom (my personal choice) with a layer of SoPhresh paper litter on top and I used to put hay on top of that on one side but now I use a hay rack I made from an NIC grid. The sophresh litter absorbs all the urine really well, she hasn’t had anything on her feet.

**also my rabbit lays in her litter box all the time. So I really suggest this method. The paper litter works wonders.

You can keep your white bunnies white, I promise!

Omg thank you Alisha that is awesome advice! I just got rid of a ton of Allen’s stuff because of mites, so I’ll see how he likes this new setup and maybe he’ll look a little less dirty
