Ok, so… Hazel is acting normal but she’s again refusing cilantro, eating hay, refusing pellets. I use yesterday’s news and I notice she’s been munching on it and seems to want to eat cardboard. What is going on w her weird appetite?I’m going to get more veggies in a moment and I’ll see if she’s interested in anything else….

Her eating hay is a positive sign. Chewing on cardboard and her litter, if not normal behaviors, can be a sign of frustration from pain or stress, which are both common after a spay.

Is she pooping and peeing okay? And have you needed to continue pain management? Any signs she’s in pain?

If she’s eating hay she’s still on the mend. Pellets are as a rule the last thing a bun goes back to post surgery. It’s not known why, but it is very common.

The cardboard chewing could be due to pain or discomfort, or it could just be frustration because she’s not getting the exercise she’s used to. Some buns get very restless and destructive if they have to be caged. That’s annoying for the human but still a good sign, it means the bun is strong enough to be irritated. A really poorly bun doesn’t care.

Yes, she is pooping and peeing. Drinking more water as well. I was a little concerned about that. You’re absolutely right about bunnies not being bothered if they are unwell. She’s definitely her old self as far as being stubborn and crazy. She’s a tough bun but I guess I’m keeping a closer eye on her than Sofia because the vet said her uterus was inflamed and filled w fluid. He said not to worry and that it’s a good thing that I got her spayed when I did. But I’m worried about her so I analyze every little thing she does or doesn’t do. Poor baby probably thinks I’m nuts. Lol

I’ll try to keep a watchful eye but be less invasive. I also have to remind myself that she was spayed just a few days ago. Thanks for your input, guys. ❤️

She doesn’t seem to be in pain now but I’m wondering if the metacam is affecting her appetite?
