Hi guys, I’m wondering if anyone can shed some light on female territorial behaviour? My rabbit is neutered (was in April when she was 4 months old) and is usually VERY friendly – not nervous or aggressive at all. She’s only bit me once when I was giving her antibiotics, so I didn’t blame her then? she likes to sit up on the top of the sofa and be stroked in a morning/evening – she even licks me and my boyfriend regularly each day on the nose, and although she is litter trained for wee’s, she does do quite a LOT of poo’s when she’s up here, so this is making me think she’s trying to mark our ‘territory’ as hers… But last night she wee’d on the sofa my boyfriend sits on, and tonight she bit him! Completely unprovoked, she showed no signs of distress because he went to stroke her as usual.

Should I be worried about this behaviour? And how can I delete it so it doesn’t become a habit?

To add, she’s completely free to roam our living room when we’re in, and goes in her enclosure at night. I’m just worried because this is out of character for her

        Thanks in advance!

The scattered poop is quite common even with fixed bunnies and can’t really be helped. Also since she was only spayed about two months ago, it could be that her hormones are still a little unstable. Female buns generally take more time to settle down after a spay.

Sometimes if you switch to a different kind of hand soap or cream/lotion, go somewhere or hang out with someone who uses a certain kind of fragrance etc, bunnies will be able to smell that on you and hence will nip because they don’t recognise that smell. For us it may be something completely insignificant, but for them it’s a huge thing
